I had a GREAT Time at Home !!!

I'm back in Bangalore, and ready to hit the job again. I spent a very full week in Nebraska, and had a good time seeing all of my family and friends there. Next time I come home, I'll be able to go farther and see more family. My flights went as planned, and there were no problems. Thank God. Sorry no Pictures this time, just know that I'm here and OK, and love you all.

Entertainment & Dining in Coinbatore

We went to the movie and saw "Flashbacks of a Fool" in english. It wasn't vary good. Luckily it only cost $1:00 to get in. The pics are of the outside of the theater. The front seats are for those who can't afford more than 10 Rs. ($ .20). Befor the movie, we stopped in a little resturant for coke and chips. Kapri is with Prakash in the pic. He is the SIS Regional Head for this area. The other eating establishment is the place adjacent to our cleaning boys barracks. Of course we didn't eat there, we ate in nicer resturants.

Hangin' Outside my Window

Look what was outside my office window last week. The guy was painting the building and himself. Check out the safety eqpt. haha

Vehicles in Coinbatore

Here are some vehicles. The busses were literally everywhere. Most of them looked to be pretty old and quite used. The Tuk-Tuk (Auto Rickshaw) is a new more modern kind. Then of course you have the two SIS vans that took our onterage around for the three days. Traffic and travel here is very interesting and crouded.

Men in Skirts/ Long and Short

One of the things that is quite common in Coinbatore is the wearing of cloth wrap-a-round "skirts" for men. Here are some various shots of traditional Indian dress.

Travels to Coinbatore

We had a start-up at SEFORGE in Coinbatore. Prakash and I traveled there to check it out and to discuss the possibility of serving at another site for the same company. Here are some pictures of the plant and the barracks that the hskpg. boys will be staying in. You can see some training sessions going on. Our barracks is new, and there will eventually be 100 or more people living in that building. The other buildings with the thatched roofs are other laborers barracks. The large water tanks in the driveway/yard are for doing the laundry. These facilities are very standard for the workers. Unfortunately, the pictures of the plant don't show much. It is a huge place though.

My New Room Mate

Abhishek is 26 years old and is the nephew of the owners of SIS. He is living with me in my apartment, and learning about ServiceMaster Clean. He will be attending our Junior Management Training course soon.

Prakash Got a New House

Prakash moved into a larger house. He had a 1 bedroom, and this place is a 2 bedroom. He took me by to see even though he hasn't got it all set up yet. The pics include his worship room living room and front gate.

The Jenkins Family - My Dear Friends

This is the family that has "adopted" me. Bill, Jesse, and their boys Joshua (eldest)and Daniel have really helped me be comfortable here. I was introduced to them by Jeff Petersen from church at home, and I started attending their church here in Bangalore, and they have fed me just about every Sunday since. I have truly appreciated their friendship and thought you should know them.

Happy B-day ServiceMaster Clean-India

March 7Th marked one year since the "tie-up" between SMC and SIS in India. (That's a little Indian Lingo for you.) I think it has been a good year. We all have learned a lot. I am optimistic that the future will be bright for ServiceMaster Clean-India. Of course, we had to have a party at work. Since we finished the book "The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader" and there is a storey in Chapter 9 about the Generosity of Elisabeth Elliot, I took in the movie "The End of the Spear", and we all watched it in the training center. It was a great time. Since I was the ranking person on the scene, I got the pleasure of cutting the cake. We had cake, chips, and soft drinks. I love the team of people in ServiceMaster. We have a great group. Enjoy the pics....

A New Drink (Recomended By My Doctor)

Pictured here are coconuts. The juice contained in these is suppose to have all kinds of good vitamins and nutrients to keep you healthy. You can buy these things all over the streets here, and you just poke a hole in the top where some of the shell has been cut away, and drink it. You know it's clean because it's never been out of the shell. I keep mine in the fridge, and Sameeo (my breakfast boy) puts it in a glass for me. NOtice that the ones in the picture have been tied together for ease of carrying. One costs about 10 Ruppee or 20 cents.

Sad and Alone - Wishing I was there

All of the Nix family joined together yesterday for Lauren's and Bret's wedding. I'm sure it was quite the affair. I just know the food was good, the bride was beautiful, the band was great, and I'm positive the photos will make it look even better. (Josh was a photographer). However, I missed it. I am still in Bangalore. Oh poor me. ha ha I trust that everyone had a good time, and I wish the newly weds the best of what married life has to offer. I'm sure that some of the people who put a lot of work into the wedding are relieved that it's over and I wish them luck getting back to normal. The young couple have probably departed on their honeymoon by now, and I pray for their safety and joy. I also pray that my other family members will make it back home safely. I plan to be there for the next wedding!!
