Lunch Stop and More Sites

We traveled through a nice 'suburban style' area, saw some cows in the road, ate lunch at a buffet at what Peter called "the Tanzanian Wal-Mart", and then traveled past a few 'back road' shops.

Bishop Sylvester

One of the stops that we made today was tovisit Sylvester. He is the bishop of a very large church, and is a spiritual mentor to Peter. It was a nice visit. Sylvester has a couple thousand worshipers on Sundays, and operates a school and a hospital and several other mission organizations.

More Sites in Dar es Salaam

Here is a construction site, a shoe shine stand, some shots of the flooding and a guy pushing his wheelbarrel. The area is a lot more like India than the U.S.

Traveling Dar es Salaam with Peter

Today it has been raining off and on. When it rains, it rains like crazy for a while then it stops, the sun comes out, and it dries off a bit. So far today, 3-4 rains. Here are some shots for your enjoyment. View from my room, a funny sculpture in the lobby, traveling in the town, a mom and her boy, and a small local shopping area. Peter and I had a good day together seeing the sights.

Adventures in East Africa

For the last 28 hours I have been making my way to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to provide training 'Equip'. I traveled to Minneapolis, MInn. to connect with KlM to get to Amsterdam, and from there to Tanzania. In Minn. the airport is nice and I had a nice train ride from domestic to international terminals. In Amsterdam I saw an old friend that I find everywhere that I go. I had a real Dutch breakfast though, and had to take a picture for Nickie. Since I had 5 hours in the airport, I made sure that they loaded my plane with the right stuff. haha The room that I have at the 'Dar' Holiday Inn is real nice and a bit expensive.

I feel very priveledged to be doing what I am. I pray that God will bless my effort and use it for his glory.

I hope to blog again tomorrow when I have dinner with Peter and his family.

Farewell Lunch on Sunday

Since we were leaving on Monday, a few more Nix's came in from Alabama, and we went out for lunch and then got together for pie at mom's afterward. It was a good meal and great strawberry pie.

Cookout at Richard's

A friend invited all of us to his house to have a cookout. He made some deer sausagge that was terrific!
