2nd Day of Teaching (Fri. 4/29/11)

Peter taught the first class and left to go back to Dar es Salaam to teach a class there. I felt a little less intimidated than the first day, and now people were showing that they liked me, even though they had a hard time understanding. Here are shots of folks studying, me teaching with Gabriel, and Peter Teaching. Gasper Beda Kawau came to me on a break and wanted a few quick answers as to how to become successful in business quickly. Needless to say I had no easy answers, but we did talk for a while. He will be emailing me I'm sure.

People of the Community & Church

People praising God in a way that you know they are serious! Elikia & Bismas Mangai were very friendly to me and told me that when I come again I must visit their home. She (Elikia)is a nurse, and Bismas is a factory technician. There are also a couple of shots of people listening to me teach. They had to listen real good, because with the interpreter and my bad Swahili it was cumbersome to say the least. On the first day it was really bad. I taught one class and then Peter took over for the second class. He is a GREAT speaker. I really felt bad. Luckily the lesson was 'Failing Forward' so I made up my mind to study and work harder.

First Day of Training (Thurs. 4/28/11)

The people warm up with worship. Gabriel was my interpreter. Peter has his helpers from VHM (Voice of Hope Ministries) selling his DVD's and shirts. After each lesson people break into groups to discuss the material. They are very hungry for knowledge and training. They pay attention, take notes and ask questions. Nobody leaves the room to answer cell phones or the like. The young lady friend is 'Haika' and I won her heart with mints. She stuck by me every day that her mom brought her.

The Sofia Hotel

Here are some shots around the hotel. The view from my window, the front of the hotel, (you can see the sign on the left). Here is a view of the street that we are on, the lobby furniture, and the store accross the street. The Sofia Hotel is not as nice as the Holiday Inn, but for $30.00 rather than $189.00 it was OK. The people were very nice.

Through the Countryside & Past the Mountains

We drove past a market in full swing. Shopping here is done the old fassion way. We saw some mud houses that people are living in and I took a good shot of the mountains that sit adjacent to Morogoro. My bed in the hotel has a mosquito net, and I thought I would show off how rich I am. All of the thousands of 'dirty' shillings that you see are less than $200.00. One US dollar is equal to 1,500 Tanzanian Shillings. Food is pretty cheap here though, You can buy a good dinner for 12,000 Shillings, ( $8.00)

The Ride To Morogoro

The journey from Dar es Salaam to Morogoro took a while. The guys picked me up at my hotel at 1:30 and we reached Morogoro at 6:30 PM. The distance is about 200 Km or160 mi. When we left the town I noticed a 'chin choke' (lizzard) outside my car window. He rode with us for a long time. There were several interesting little shops on the way, inclusing a 'Fashion Store' for women. I also captured a shot of a woman carrying stuff on her head.

Dinner at the Mitimingi Home

Tonight Peter invited me to his home for dinner. It was terrific! I met Patience (his wife), Precious (his 10 yr. old son), and Princes (his 3 yr. old daughter). We ate chicken, banana w/meat, rice, vegetables,and fruit. I took pictures for Nickie. The drivers name is Harun! The same as my driver in India!!! Go Figure!
