The Final Train Ride HOme

Although the trip is 36 hours from L.A. to Kansas City, we had a good time, and did not get bored. We had a small roomet, and the food in the dining car was great. I gained weight! I tried to climb up and drive but they wouldn't have it. haha

Phillipe - French Dip

We went to lunch at the resturant near the station that is where the 'french dip' was accidentally invented in the early 1900's when the cook acidentally dropped the bun into the beef broth while making a beef sandwich. This resturant has been on this corner since 1906, (even before it was a corner). Cool Place and they are known for their mustard. I bought some for a friend, but I don't like it.

Waiting in the Station

We did sit around the station for a while and it was boreing.

Killin' Time at Union Station L.A.

Here are some shots after we got to Union Station. We had to kill time from about 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM so we explored the neighborhood. Here are some pictures of a Mexican shopping area that we visited, a 'festival park', a huge tree, and the 'oldest house in L.A.

The Trip Home - Burbank to L.A. first

We hurried to return the rental car on time, and ran to the commuter train to go from Burbank to L.A. W stopped at a food wagon to buy breakfast buritoes, and ate them on the platform. The old train was entertaining, but it was cold.
