Home Sweet Home Canada Trip = Success

Today we raveled about 550 miles from Rapid City to Lincoln. We left before sun up, and Nickie got a good shot when it did come up. I personally think it is a sin to get up before the sun. haha While talking about how great God is, we just happened to pass the monument that is pictured. We got a nice shot of a church for Kim, and the dinasour I guess can be for S*. Nickie made the little sign to celebrate our arrival. Here are the vital statistics:

Gone a total of 12 days
Traveled a total of 3,696 miles
OurAverage moving speed was 63 MPH
The motor home was moving for 58 hrs. & 18 min.
Our maximum speed was 81 MPH
Total fuel cost $ 1,583.07 average $.43/mile.

I hope you had as much fun watching as we did going. Peace Out!

Deadwood Diner and other neat sites

Here is the "Bistro" that Nickie selected for lunch and even the food we had to eat. Also some of the sculpture in Sturgis, and more road shots.

Needles Highway & Speerfish Canyon

These are two of the "must travel" roads for bikers and other interested parties. We thought the church was cool, and we aren't sure what the animals are. The water fall is called Bridal Falls. We always stop here...

Sightseeing in the Black Hills Day-11

Today we rented a car and spent all day touring the Black Hills area around Rapid City and Sturgis, South Dakota. I took this opportunity to show Nickie what I do when I come to Sturgis. We drove the rental car on the motorcycle rides. We started off traveling on Iron Moountain Road through various tunnels and in the shadow of Mount Rushmore. Beautiful country !!

Returning Home from Canada Day 10

Today we had a fairly long day. We drove from Billings, MT to Rapid City, SD, more than 400 miles. We stopped at the site fo the Battle of the Little Bighorn. It was pretty cool. Here are some of the shots. Nickie is at the Indian memoria. There is a monument to the US soldiers, Custer's grave on "Last Stand Hill", various other memorial markers, and the National cemetary. Although the Indians won the battle, they ultimately lost the war shortley afterward. A sad tale...

Coming home from Canada Day 9

Today we ran into rough weather. The stretch of mountainous highway from Spokane, Washington to Billings, Montana got trickey. We had a lot of rain, and a fair amount of snow. It was beautiful! Today was also a 525 mile day so we could get closer to Sturgis faster (we want to spend a day in that area). When we got down to a rest area, we saw this guy on his Harley that had just caame the same way. He was low on gas and food, and headed back home to Alabama. I gave him $20.00 and wished him well. Isuggested he go south quickly. He didn't even have a windshield on his bike, and it was about 40 degrees in the dry sun! Nickie made us a nice BBQ chicken dinner when we got settled into our camp site. I pray that our Alabama friend found a warm place to hold up.

The Great Canada Adventure Day 8

We had a chance to meet Bill's dad "Don" at church on Sunday, and he joined us for lunch at Bill & Jessies's. We left on Monday morning 10/25 and rushed accross the border back into the USA to get the motor home wheel/brakes checked out. We both were braced for a big expense, but again God had mercy on us, and it was a simple gasket on the axle that was leaking rearend grease. It only cost $59.00 and took less than an hour. We celebrated with a big breakfast. We saw a nice group sculptured horses on the road, and Nicki liked the cross. We spent the night at Walmart. FREE!!

The Ski Village aat Wistler

Here are some shots of the village at wistler, and the "Lost Lake" that is not far from the village. None of the lifts or gondolas were working. they are getting ready to open for the season Nov. 25th.

Shannon Falls on the way to Wistler

The big rock mountain is the largest piece of granite in the world. Then we have a picture of Bill, Jessie, Joshua, Daniel, and us. The others are the falls, and some of the mountain scenes.

Traveling to Wistler (Vancouver) Day 7

On Saturday we spent the day traveling to the resort area at Wistler. Here are some shots traveling through Vvancouver. The Sculptures are "The Runner", and "The Woman in A Wet Suit".
